Sending large files via email is just not practical and in most cases not possible to send files over a certain size because of restrictions from many mail servers. Requirements:

• PHP 5.x or higher
• ionCube runtime or ionCube loaders installed (version 4 loader or higher, released Oct. 2010)
• mySQL 4 or higher
• Recommended to be able to create an FTP account at the account name level of your hosted site.
  (an example would be if your absolute path to your web site was '/home/acctname/public_html/'
  then you would want to create an FTP account with access to say, '/home/acctname/files/' which
  is a level below your public web pages. This is only important when you want your uploaded files
  to be hidden and more secure from public prying eyes)
• The PHP Directive for 'open_basedir' is recommended to have 'no value'. This directive will make
  it possible for the Simple2FTP script to read directories and files on your web server.
• Your hosted site should have enough storage space and bandwidth to support the size and number
  of files you plan or estimate to have stored
• Client browser must have Java Plugin (version 6.x or higher, latest version recommended) support installed.
  (Note: MAC users be aware that the Apple version of Java may not be completely compatible with the Sun Java standards. Some users have experienced problems with uploading large files 1 gb or larger. We have successfully uploaded 1.2 gb files using Simple2FTP on the MAC platform using OSX 10.6.3 running Apple Java Runtime 6.0_20)
• * Note: We recommend you first download and install the free trial version to make sure the software will run on your hosted website. Licensing is per domain and no refunds are given.

Known Issues:

There may be an issue when Simple2FtP users upgrade to the latest current version of Java (1.7 Update 4 or higher)

This issue has been resolved, please see below under Resolution.

Resolution:  Microsoft has issued a HOTFIX for this issue that can be downloaded at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2754804
This fix should be incorporated in an upcoming Windows Update for all Windows 7 and Vista users.

Another option is to possibly use FTPS (secure: ftp over explicit ssl). This requires a hosted environment with a current SSL Certificate installed and FTP Server software running that will support FTPS.

How it works!  

When you need to upload or download files between you and a friend, customer or vendor and the file is too large to be emailed it can be cumbersome to say the least. Many FTP applications will do the job but there is an easier way - Simple2FTP! We utilize a Java based FTP library and additional code to do the "management" of connecting and sending or receiving files for you making it as easy as browsing the web to upload or download files that need to be shared.

Once purchased, you install Simple2FTP on your web site along with the license file supplied by us. You will need to create an FTP account that you can use as your main FTP account but it is shielded from access and viewing by Simple2FTP. Now you can log into the application with your administrative login and create new accounts, upload files and more. No need to create individual FTP account though your web host control panel for each one of your users, just create the user accounts you need through Simple2FTP and notify each user via email. Each account can have a secure directory for storing files that others cannot view or access!
